Market Street Renaissance Inglewood, California

Market Street Renaissance Inglewood, California

The project was an unsolicited proposal to develop seven city-owned sites on Market Street in downtown Inglewood, California. The sites consisted of four vacant parcels and three buildings. We proposed acquiring the existing buildings for remodel and leasing to tenants to create a “cool hip vibe” to attract a new generation of clientele and businesses. We teamed with a major family-owned theater to redevelop the 1949 Fox Theater into smaller theaters to draw patrons to Market Street. We proposed to develop the smaller vacant lots after remodel of the existing buildings to add value to make the larger projects feasible and add value to the adjacent properties.
We used our knowledge and experience from the Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Station Area Planning to create the proposal for the city. We teamed with the founder of Playa Vista (PV) Jobs to hire local youth for the project and interviewed local youth on Market Street to hear their responses to the project and the job opportunities.
