Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Transit Corridor

Crenshaw/LAX Light Rail Transit Corridor

The Crenshaw/LAX Transit Corridor Station Area Planning focused on the eight stations located along an 8.5-mile corridor connecting LAX International Airport to mid-city and Downtown Los Angeles. Our planning efforts focused on a quarter-mile radius centered on each station, four located along Crenshaw Boulevard, two along Florence Avenue, and two along Aviation Boulevard. The station area planning and urban design provides an innovative framework that caused Transit Oriented Development (TOD) projects that integrated the transit infrastructure, public equity, and private investment. The planning solution created a seamless cityscape that effectively integrates the stations through a linkage to existing community assets and leverages maximum economic development within the station area. Consensus building is key to repositioning challenged communities. The team utilized an integrated process of establishing community agreement to support strategic development, knowing it will preserve the historical assets and culture while improving the community’s economic position.
